North Idaho’s Silver Valley
Nestled in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains, in the heart of the Panhandle National Forest, the Silver Valley is most noted for its mining heritage, dating back to the 1880s.
The Silver Valley is also famous for it’s Ski Resorts ~ Silver Mountain and Lookout Pass; it’s Bike Trails, ATV Trails and The World’s Longest Gondola.
The narrow valley, about 40 miles in length, comprises a number of small towns along the South Fork of the Coeur d’Alene River and Interstate 90. These towns, all in Shoshone County, include Cataldo, Kingston, Pinehurst, Smelterville, Kellogg, Wardner, Osburn, Silverton, Wallace, and Mullan.
